Motorcycle Repair: Wont Start, honda vt500, plug holes

Question
I recently bought a 1986 Honda VT500 with 14k. It ran fine for 1000 miles, then, it had trouble starting. I changed the air filter and plugs, which helped for a while. Now it won't start. This bike may have sat for a long time as the previous owner only put 650 miles a year on it.

The plugs have spark and it has gas. Any suggestions???

Answer
Hi Steve,

Have the carbs been removed and soaked/cleaned?
If not, then I would start there.

BTW, does it run if you pour a small amount of gas down the spark plug holes?
If it only runs for a few seconds after doing this, then its a fuel delivery problem and I would start with a carb cleaning.
If it doesn't run after pouring gas down the spark plug holes, then its a different issue.
