Motorcycle Repair: cb750, oil level, dipstick

Question
I have a 1992 cb750 w/12000 miles. I recently changed the plugs air filter and oil and now when starting it has white smoke coming out of exhaust untill warm. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Answer
Hi Dale,

The CB750 engines are prone to this symptom. My CB750 will do it sometimes for a minute when I first start it. I notice it does it more when after an oil change with the oil is at the top of the dipstick and it will do it less when the oil is down a bit further on the dipstick.

If the oil level is ok, I wouldn't worry about it too much. If the oil level is too high, then drain a bit of oil out of the crankcase.
