Motorcycle Repair: honda Trail 55 C105, wheel and sproket, transmission bearings

Question
Hi,
I have taken off the rear wheel and sproket of my Honda c105. Upon installing it all back on the bike I noticed the sproket is loose and moves a little from side to side without the chain on. Is this normal? Does the chain tighten it up? I have looked over the parts and assembly and everything seems to be in place. I am not comfortable driving it unless I know for sure it is correct.

Also, Do you happen to know the correct setting for the air/fule mixture valve? I assume its between one and two turns....
Thank you!!

Aaron

Answer
Aaron, the rear wheel sprocket has a rubber cushion system to help take the shock out of the driveline.

A little motion is to be expected, but often the rubber dampers have shrunken, degraded and are falling apart inside.

No the chain will not tighten it up. You must remember to keep about 3/4" slack in the middle of the drive chain, so you don't damage the sprockets, chain and transmission bearings.

I don't have any specs for C105 carburetors. Basically, you set it where it idles the best, when the engine is at operating temperature. Changing the idle speeds will generally necessitate changing the idle mixture screws, as does adjustments to the ignition timing.
