Question
QUESTION: i have a early 84 ironhead 1000 and put a shorty super e S&S carb. on it . it had a inter. of 29 in it and we changed it to a 25 and the main jet was a 74 and we changed it to a 64 and she still soots the plugs out. is this carb. going to be able to be used on this bike or not ? i bought it because the original one went bad and i bought this one for a great price so i couldn't turn down the carb.i can tell this carb. has alot of power and i would love to run this on the bike but in the same token if what you say is that i cant i cant. hey thanks for your time and effort on this matter and for the offering of this site. thanks Ron

ANSWER: Your jets are a little small for the bike you are runnjing it on. I would OHMs test the coil and plug wires to make sure they are good. If the coil or plug wires are bad they will cause the plugs to foul

QUESTION: Hello Mike,
Would you go back with an oem coil? And what mm plug wire would you suggest? Also what plug would you suggest?
Thank You for your help, Ron

Answer
A good coil is either a Crane or Accel. Make sure you get one for your bike depending on if you have points or electronic ignition. If you put a points coil on a bike with electronic it can ruin the ignition. For the plug wires I would go with Accel 8mm
