Motorcycle Repair: oil blowing out of breather tube, breather tube, oil pump

Mike, I have a 1974 1000cc Sporty.When I start my bike in the morning a lot of oil shoots out of the breather tube. If I ride all day there is no problem. It only happens after I park it for the night. I replaced the oil pump and still have this problem.

What is happening is oil is weeping past the check ball in the oil pump and getting into the bottom end. the oil pump cant pump it back fast enough si it comes out the breather. What you can do is remove the cover for the ball and spring and tap the ball with a pumch so it will seat better. Dont hit it to hard, or you will damage the seat it sits on
