Motorcycle Repair: replace clutch cable on 1980 FLH, clutch lever, clutch cable

Is there an easier way to change the clutch cable than taking half the bike apart? I can't figure out how to get to the ball-end of the cable without major disassembly!

Answer
Loosen the cable so there is alot of slack in it. remove the cable from the clutch lever then the cable will come out of the clutch lever.

i messed up on my asnwer. Loosen the clutch cable, remove the cable from the clutch lever, and then the ball will slip out of the clutch lever when you push the lever foward.
