Motorcycle Repair: Honda Shadow COILS, honda shadow vt 1100, flame thrower kit

Question
Hello Dale, I am installing a flame thrower kit on my 97 Honda Shadow VT 1100 C2 A.C.E. Show Bike and the instructions state to identify the wire/s sending 12V to the coils so they can be spliced to the switch of this kit.  It instructs to identify by using a light tester and when the key is on the ON position, the tester will light and the light will shut off when the key is on the OFF position.  This seems standard BUT all of these wires are doing this!  They are all lighting when key is ON and no light when key is off.  There are 2 wires per coil, 1 blue with yellow stripe and 1 black with a white stripe.  Which wire/s should be the ones sending the voltage to the coils? 1 on each? all 4?  HELP DALE HELP!!!!

Answer
Thanks for the question!-- It should be the blue with the yellow stripe.  I know this is a show bike, but there is the potential for damage by installing this.  Not only that, but if you are planning on riding this bike on the streets, it is EXTREMELY ILLEGAL!!!!  If caught there can be major fines.
