Motorcycle Repair: mixture screw/jetting., pressure gage, screaming eagle

Question
Hello agian bud,Mario from OZ here.Mike could you please clear something for me on what dose the mixture screw do when you turn it in or out e.g.which richens or leans. Also what is a good PSI on a 1340 with stage 1 or 2 screaming eagle cams. What and how do you do a bleed down test.     Thanks Mike your a Legend.

Answer
When turning the mixture screw inward leans the carb and outward richens the carb. One thing to remember, this only applies when the bike is at idle. Above idle the jets take over.
90 or above is good as long as there is not more than 10% difference in pressure on the cylinders.
To do a bleed down test, you first have to remove the spark plugs and have a tester to attach that has a pressure gage on it. then you have to lock the motor so it doesnt turn. Rotate the motor so the valves are closed and put about 50 lbs of pressure on the cylinder. You then shut the air off and watch the gage to see how fast the air bleeds down. This will tell you if you have a leaking valve
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
