Motorcycle Repair: 1983 Hondamatic cm450a carb leaking, honda motorcycle, bill silver

The carb is leaking and gas is running out of the carb bowl drain line. What could be causing this? It hasn't been running for ten years. Thanks so much.

Answer
Aaron, the carburetors need to be cleaned thoroughly, as the 10 year old gasoline deposits have caused the float valve to stay partially open.

You need to have the whole fuel system checked and cleaned, from the gas cap to the float bowls.
