Motorcycle Repair: rear shocks, air shocks, cb 900

Question
i have a 1981 cb 900 custom. my rear air shocks stay down sometimes, sometimes they work, i have put the correct amount of air in them, and they still act up. i really dont want to replace them,im running out of options, please help if you can.

Answer
Charles, after 28 years, I think that they are dying a slow death.

You can try airing up the system, spraying some soapy water around the various joints where the O-rings and seals are, in hopes that the leak is external somewhere. Otherwise, you can measure the eye-to-eye length at a height where you like the bike and then order some regular replacement shocks from your local m/c supplier or an E-bay vendor.
