Motorcycle Repair: Stuck Throttle, sportster, air cleaner

Good morning.  I just got my bike last night and it has been sitting for the past 6 months, and now seems that the throttle is stuck open.  It is a 2007 Sportster.  I was wondering if you knew a quick easy fix before i take it into the shop.

First you need to determine if its the carb or the cables. Go to the adjusters on the cables, close to the throttle handle, and loosen them so the cable is shorter. Remove the air cleaner and backplate so you can see the carb and remove the cables from the carb. Now you can twist the throttle and see if its the cable or the carb which is causing the problem
