the masterlink is of the pressed on variety, requiring a chainbreaker or grinder to remove, the sprockets need to be inspected before replacing the chain because if they are worn too, and chances they are then they need replacing with the chain. If you put a new chain on worn sprockets the new chain will be ruined quickly. The left, engine side cover over the countershaft sprocket needs to be removed, thn you can replace chain and sprockets at once, get a new chain that has a regular masterlink, get an extra masterlink too...
