Motorcycle Repair: 2007 Harley Nightster, 2007 harley nightster, harley dealer

Question
Mike,

My wife's Nightster has an intermittent cut-out after a cold start.  It will idle and then briefly, as though you were cutting the spark or injectors, cut-out.  It may do this a couple of times after starting, or not at all.  I noticed if you give a little throttle at that time, it did not like to take it, but I have only done that a time or two.  It has never cut-out while riding or on a warm/hot start, only cold.  It will do this usually within the first minute to minute and a half after starting.  Dealer says no codes are shown.  They even tested the bike for a week, said it didn't do it.  When picking up the bike it did it right in front of the service manager.  No modifications have been done to this bike, stone stock intake and exhaust.  Thank you!

Answer
Mike, if the bike did it right in front of the service manager and no action was taken by them, I would immediately take the bike to another Harley dealer. As the bike is an '07 I am assuming there is still some warranty left on it - that means you have the right to have that bike fixed and fixed properly at no cost to you. If your dealer won't do that, then a letter of complaint should be sent to Harley while your bike is taken to another dealer for service.
