Motorcycle Repair: unsiezing motorcycle, loose control, 5th gear

Question
I have no experience with motorcycles and want unsieze a 1973 honda cb450, I want to save some money and do the work myself. The last time it ran was in september 2008. Please help.

Answer
Jeremy, if I had it in my shop I'd take the plugs out and put some oil in the cylinders and let it sit over night or a couple days to let the oil soak down into the rings.  Leave the plugs out.  Next I'd put it up in 5th gear and I'd start rocking the bike forward and backward to turn the engine over.  Depending on how stuck the engine is, it may break free.  If it doesn't break free the cylinders may be too rusted up and it will require taking it a part.  I've also towed a bike behind a car and let out the clutch to break one free but that's really dangerous and not recommended. It's a very quick way to loose control when the rear wheel starts skidding. It could slide out to the side and you'll be dragging along the road.
