Motorcycle Repair: 2001 SV650 electrical problems, key switch, electrical problems

Question
My bike was running wonderfully until I pulled up to the curb to park it and
turned the ignition key to 'off'... The starter kept trying to turn over the engine!
Of course it didn't fire because the key was off. I sat there and pondered for
a moment as my bike was trying to magically start itself, and turned the key
back to 'on'. Fired right up. One more time to 'off' and the same thing,
magically turning itself over for three revolutions until it died. Dead. Completly
dead. No lights, no start, no odometor...nothing. Checked all fuses good.
Checked started relay good. Battery good. I'm clueless to what's the problem.

Answer
Ok I have given this one some thought... and I am unsure how the switch caused the starter to go BUT... I would say the switch shorted internally causing the starter action and then failed completely, causing the deadness you speak of... try a new main key switch.
