Motorcycle Repair: fuel leak, overflow problems, float bowls

Question
I have a 1983 Honda CB650SC. A minute or two after starting it up, gas comes out of the T joints (overflow tubes?) in between the carbs. I'm not sure what to make of this since I had a professional put on rebuilt carbs about 8 months ago. The fuel line from the carbs up to the petcock appear to be okay, so I took off the petcock to check for any issues there. The seals and passageways inside the petcock appeared to be okay as well. Once I got everything put back together, and started the bike, fuel almost instantly began coming out of petcock overflow stem. Did messing with the petcock make things worse? What can I do to fix the petcock and the carb overflow problems?

Answer
Sounds like the floats are not shutting the fuel off.  Either that or the overflow posts inside the float bowls are pitted through.  Either way they have to be cleaned again.  Sometimes giving them a tap with an object will stop the leak, but this is not normally a 'permanent' fix.  Good luck,
