Motorcycle Repair: 1971 Yamaha Enduro 100, float bowl, fuel supply

Question
I have a 71 yamaha enduro 100 that any time i turn on the fuel supply, the carb fills and fuel begins to run out through the overflow tubes.  Any help with this issue would be appreciated

Answer
Hi,
You have a stuck float needle. Sometimes you can tap, sharply, on the float bowl with the handle-end of a screwdriver and the float needle will clear, if this does not work, remove the carb, clean the carb out, reassemble. The float might need adjustment if, when you open the carb, it does not move up and down freely, consult your service manual to check the float-height adjustment process. You might need to replace the fuel in the tank too, if there is rust or debris in the tank this must be cleaned also. Use a fuel filter, inline, available from any bike shop.
Thanks.
