Motorcycle Repair: dragging sound when attempting to start..., starter solenoid, soleniod

I have a 1985 fxwg wide glide that will not turn over when attempting to use the electric starter, it sounds like it is dragging when attempting, it will not even turn the engine over. New battery,new ground and positive cables, battery is tested and it is ok. Starts fine and runs good when I kick start it. Any ideas?

Make sure you have a really good ground. If it still drags then your starter soleniod is either bad or the starter itself is bad. I would pull the starter and check the brushes and armature in it. If its ok, then replace the starter solenoid
