Motorcycle Repair: 1966, CT200, Trail 90, Carb. info., petcock, o rings

Question
I have recently purchased a vintage (1966 CT200) and have completely restored the bike to original specs. except, the carb. which I've gone through several times and cant keep it from leaking. Even after a rebuild it leaked from 4 spots. #1, where the fuel intake posts seat in the carb x2.  #3,The nut & cup at the bottom of the carb. #4 the valve that switches the fuel from Off-On-Reserve. After the rebuild, and the 4 leaks I've stopped the 2 posts from leaking by removing them and applying gasket sealer around them and reinstalling them. The gasket sealer didn't help with the drain plug/cup nor the on-off-reserve valve. My question would be; Is there a upgrade carb. or a later year model that will work on this bike? Sorry for the lengthy question and thanks in advance!    Howard

Answer
Howard, there isn't an upgrade that I know of but there may be a trick you can try. If you take the petcock apart you will find a round gasket with a number of holes through it.  Those holes have an embossed o-ring around each one.  Those o-rings wear out and it leaks. If you turn the gasket over, you will find there are o-rings on the other side.  Try turning the gasket over.

The drain plug just uses a fiber gasket. You could go to the hardware store and get a copper or aluminum sealing washer and that should work.
