Motorcycle Repair: 79 cm185t stupidity., regulator rectifier, volt source

Question
I just got a cm185t from a guy who hooked a 12 volt battery to the bike. Of course its 6 volt so that didn't work very well.  I have never done electrical work before so what am i looking for? What are the things that most likely I will have to replace? Thanks Shane

Answer
Shane, it all depends on what was turned on and how long the battery was attached. Hooking up a 12 volt source would have doubled the current through all elecrical devices.  If connected for a while, chances are they are all cooked. Start at the fuses and see which if any were blown.  I'm guessing the coils, lights, spark box, and regulator rectifier are all bad but it all depends on how long they were connected and how hot they got.
