QUESTION: 40mm kehin off my friends wrecked 02 buell just had it rebuilt with stage one mods.

ANSWER: Remove the air cleaner and backplate. The carb will slip off the rubber seal. At he throttle loosen the adjusters on the throttle and idle cable so they hae slack in them. Remove the cables and vaccumn line from the carb. Go tot he left side of the bike and loosen the nut ont he back of the choke and slip the choke out of its holder. remove the carb with the choke cable. Install the new carb in reverse and adjust the cables. Since the carb came off a Buell you might have to rejett it to get it to run correctly.

QUESTION: seal must be stiff, ok to pry off w/a couple pry bars? wher is cable adjusters what size jet is in buell, what size do i need, was told it was direct fit cause it had stage one mod. should i get different carb? thanx gary

Answer
The rubber seal should just pull off, but you can get it off with a screwdriver. The cable adjusters are located close to the throttle. They should be under a rubber boot for both of them.
On the jetting, try the carb without changing jets. It might be ok. Ride the bike for about 5 miles and not going over 2500 RPM or 45 MPH. If the carb spits through the carb then your intermidate jet it too large, if it spits through the exhaust then its too small. Keep changing jets until it revs correctly. You also what to adjust hte air/fuel mixture screw after any jet change. It is located under the bottom of the carb. Slowly turn it inward, just until the bike starts to stall and then outward 1/4 turn. Once you have the intermediate jet done then go the main jet. Do the same thing, but ride over 3000 RPM or over 60 MPH. You are looking for the same thing
