Motorcycle Repair: 2009 FXSTB Backfire, train stock, bone stock

Question
QUESTION: I bought a 2009 Softail Night Train (Stock) recently, put a couple of miles on it (15 total on the bike) and put it away. When I started it the next morning, it popped loudly prior to starting. It ran smoothly afterward, so when I put it away again, I waited about 30 minutes to restart it and the same thing occurred. This is my first FI bike and I let the indicator light go out each time but it still does it.

ANSWER: Is it completly stock?

QUESTION: Yes, bone stock...

Answer
What is happening is the cylinder is loading up with fuel and when you try to start it you are getting a backfire. What you need to do is take the bike in and have a dianostic run on it. You might have a injector leaking through when you shut it off
Good luck and happy riding
