Motorcycle Repair: forks, harley dealer, triple trees

Question
I have an 883  the  front is to high  for me to control the bike  can the forks be lowered  and the handelbars  be  brought  back toward the rider

Answer
What year is your 883? On the newer models it is possible to lower the forks by loosening the pinch bolts on the upper and lower triple trees and allowing the forks to slide up 1"-2". Note that this is best done by a qualified mechanic and be aware that lowering the front end by this method will also change the handling characteristics of the bike. It will also reduce the cornering clearance as well as the amount of suspension travel.

The handlebars can be positioned closer to you by installing a set of pullback risers. These are available at any Harley dealer or through most aftermarket parts suppliers like J&P Cycles.
