Motorcycle Repair: 74 honda 360 no spark, screw driver, ionized air

Question
Connected battery charger, now I am not getting any spark? Everything leads to the condenser.  Is their a way to check it?  Or did I pop something else?  It was running an hour before by kickstarting it.

Answer
Jeff, the condenser won't keep it from generating a spark. The condenser just stops the current flow the moment the points open.  If the condenser is bad there will be a lot of sparking right at the points as they open and close.  When the points start to open the air in the gap becomes ionized as the gap opens and that ionized air will continue to pass current.  If you open and close the points with the point of a screw driver, the plugs should spark if the system is working right.  If it doesn't spark you have a problem in the ignition.  Check for 12 volts at the black and white wire at the coils.  Also check for 12 volts at the point wires when the points are open. if that all works, it could be the coils.  It's possible the condenser is bad but the symptoms you describe doesn't indicate it to me.
