Motorcycle Repair: Dry Cell Charging, dry cell battery, battery check

Question
Motorcycle Repair: Dry Cell Charging, dry cell battery, battery check
Odyssey Battery
You spoke about a charging problem in a past question pertaining to checking if a regulator or stator is bad.  You mentioned that if the battery was bad or if the battery was a dry cell the stator would not charge the battery.  I have a Odyssey dry cell on my 93 Heritage and started having the charging problem right after the installation.  I have had a dry cell on it before, but never had a problem.  Just to make it clear, could this be the problem?

Answer
I dont think it was me who said a stator will not charge a dry cell battery. What I said was you need to check the battery to make sure its good. You might have gotten a bad battery.
If the battery is ok then at the battery check with a volt meter and with the bike running about 2000 RPM you should be getting about 13.5 volts. If not then you need to test the stator.
Good luck and happy riding
