Motorcycle Repair: XL 250S Headlight problems, headlight circuit, resistor

I have a '81 XL 250S that seems to have prematurally blown is head light. I understand there is a resistor in the system. I can't seem to find it. Do you know where it is on the bike?

Jason, I'm not aware of any resistor in the headlight circuit. The battery normally absorbs the additional current and prevents current spikes.  If the battery is dead or bad, it will increase the current in the system and could cause the light to blow out.
