Motorcycle Repair: 2003 kawisaki zr7s, starter solenoid, suzuki bandit

Question
QUESTION: i have a 2000 suzuki bandit that wont turn over i have a new batt power coming in and out of the start switch. is there a way to test the clutch pedal saftey inginotion lock switch or whet else could it be

ANSWER: The clutch lever interlock switch can usually be tested by unplugging the wires attached to it and taping them together (or by using a jumper wire if it is a two pin connector). If the bike still does not turn over, check other components such as the kill switch and the starter relay. When you push the start button you should hear a "click" from the relay. If you are sure power is getting to the relay, then replace it and try again. If, however, the relay clicks but the starter does not turn you will need to replace the starter solenoid and/or the starter itself.

QUESTION: IT has a ticking sound when it gets hot could it be bad gas oil need changing or valve adj

Answer
If you don't know when the oil was changed last, it's probably due.

If the ticking noise is coming from the top of the engine where the valves are, then chances are it needs a valve adjustment setting. To do this yourself you really need a service manual, which you can find here: http://www.repairmanual.com/motorcycles/2000/62
