Motorcycle Repair: 1976 Honda Goldwing, honda goldwing, light fuse

Question
What would cause the tail light fuse to blow everytime I start the bike or while it is running?  I am at my wits end, thank you for any help you can provide.

Answer
Dave, I hate to state the obvious but you have a short.  It can be in the tail light socket,  It could just be connected incorrectly. There could be a pinched wire under a bolt somewhere.  I'd start by unplugging the tail light and see if it blows the fuse.  If it doesn't you're almost done. The problem is in the tail light itself.  If it blows, the problem is in the wiring harness or in the headlight area.  Disconnect the light brown and white wires inside the headlight.  That wire powers the tail light and instrument lights.  Then you can plug in one circuit at a time until you narrow down which circuit has the problem.
