I have a 1989 fxr.The bike sat for 2 months over the winter, when I went to start it I turned on the key, pushed the starter switch the starter turned over slow (weak battery)I let off starter switch (starter stayed on ) I turned off the key(starter still on) so I disconnected the battery.I charged the battery and just touched the ground lead to the battery(with the key off) and the starter turns over,it's stuck on when there's power to the bike with the key off. Thank's

Answer
Your starter gear is stuck out onto the starter ring gear on your clutch hub, which will energize your starter. With the key off put the bike in gear and push it forwards, the dragging of the rear tire will turn the motor over and release the starter gear. Then hook up your battery that you already charged. Everything should be fine then.
