Motorcycle Repair: start up of a new engine, oil pressure switch, air pockets

Question
I I'm in the possess of replacing my 1987 evo with a 1999 (1340) what is the best way to prime the new engine to insure no air pockets in the oil system? Also I have a s&s super e series carb where does the voes line hook up? would you have a diagram showing this?

Answer
Whenever I was installing a new motor I would remove the check ball plug on the oil pump then pull the spring and use my pencil magnet to retrieve the steel check ball then fill the oil tank when oil came out here I would reinstall the ball, spring and plug. Then pull out the oil pressure switch until oil came out here and finally if your still worried about the oil having air in it you could always pull the return oil line off of the oil tank and route this hose into a bucket then pull the plug wires so the bike won't start and turn the motor over with the electric starter until oil comes out of this hose. But be cautious as some ignitions require that spark plugs be hooked to the plug wires before the ignition is turned on. The voes hooks to the nipple on the back of the carb just before the intake. So carbs had this nipple on the intake itself, not sure where yours is at. Either or situation.
