Motorcycle Repair: adjustement, harley davidson shovelhead, clutch lever

Question
how do i adjuste the clutch on a 1976 harley davidson shovelhead motorcycle.tire turns when its on a stand wheel not touchin the ground in neutral

Answer
Go to the adjuster on the cable and loosen it so you have slack in the cable. Now remove the back cover on the primary. Under it you will see the clutch adjuster in the center. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjuster screw outward and then inward, just until it bottoms and then outward about 1/8 turn. Tighten the locknut. Go back to the cable and adjust it so you have about 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever.
Good luck and happy riding
