Motorcycle Repair: Shifter Pawl Assembley, screw out, pawl

Question
I have a 2005 Ultra Classic. I bought the bike used. I shifter shaft was loose / stripped out. I removed the inner primary and replaced the arm and the seal. When apart the shaft (shifter pawl assembley) had up and down movement. I put it back together and now it has a small drip of trans fluid. Is there a bushing in there that could be replaced? Can the arm shifter pawl assembley be removed by pulling the centering screw out, the top cover, and the inner primary? I have a repair manual but it don't go into the details of this repair. Thanks.

Answer
To remove the shifter shaft you have to pull the gears out of the trans. there is not enough room to get it out otherwise. I would make sure the shifter shaft is the leak. It might be yor main seal or the seal you installed was bad. There will be a little up and down movement in the shaft.
Good luck and happy riding
