Motorcycle Repair: Honda Shadow -changing batery, honda shadow spirit, wd 40

Question
My bike is a Honda Shadow Spirit. It is not a vintage model but my question is a bit generic. My battery is dead. I purchased a new one but when I went to take the old one out it will not come out. It seems like it is stuck on the bottom to where it goes. Is there anything that will help loosen it?

I'm not sure what year we're talking about but generally those are just set in there.  It's possible that the rubber pads it's sitting on have just become stuck to the battery case.  You can take some WD-40 or something like it and spray it on and around the battery.  That might help lube things up so it will slide out more easily.
