Motorcycle Repair: oil pressure on a shovelhead, oil pressure gauge, crossover pipe

Question
QUESTION: I rerouted the oil lines to feed the jugs independently on a shovelhead. I also increased the line size to 1/4 inch now I can only get 1/2 the pressure I also increased the size line to the pressure gage!  It should be getting a better feed why is the pressure low?

ANSWER: I'm not sure what you mean when you say jugs? Are you referring to the upper cylinder oil lines? Where do you have the gauge hooked up at,should be off of the lifter block oil screen fitting.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: OK right into the rocker boxes where the crossover line used to be! the gage is hooke into the old line feed on the rockerbox!

Answer
If I'm following your follow up right you've removed the crossover pipe between the rocker boxes and installed 2 lines that are larger than the stock pipe and the other ends of the hoses tie together and enter the case where the stock upper oil feed pipe mounted and then installed a oil pressure gauge on the rear rocker box where the stock upper oil feed pipe connected. If this is true your pressure is probably low cause your gauge is connected at the farthest point from the oil pump. A lot of companies make a gauge connecting fitting that mounts in place of the lifter block oil screen plug, you'd get a truer reading at this point.
