Motorcycle Repair: 1976 Honda cb360, motorcycle repair, cam lobe

I am new to motorcycle repair and restoration. I need to know if the valves are open or closed when they are loose when you touch them. I wish to adjust valves, but am not sure if the looseness of the valve indicates they are open or closed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Will T.

Will, that's an easy one. When the valve followers are loose the valves are closed. You need to follow the procedure for setting the valves or you could set the valves on the wrong portion of the cam lobe which can result in a bad setting and noisy valve train.
