Motorcycle Repair: signal light issues, cb750k, metal strip

Question
Rich, I have a '79 CB750K.  Out of the blue, the right side signal lights when engaged are constant (no flash whatsoever) but the left side when engaged works properly.  I tried replacing a cylinder shaped piece about 2" wide behind the left fairing (some sort of signal light module) and that did not help at all, the same problem persisted.  Please help with any knowledge you might have and thank you for your time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Jeff, the flashers require a certain current to generate the required heat to open the flasher mechanism in the flasher.  As the bi-metal strip heats up it expands and opens the circuit.  If the one side has too much resistance, it won't pass the current and the flasher quits.  You're looking for a dirty connection or contact in the bulb or socket.

Rich
