Motorcycle Repair: 1973 cl350, scrambler 350, honda cl350

Question
Bill, I'm trying to find the seat lock number for my cl350.There is no number on the lock it self and the ingnition switch was replaced by the previous owner. The fork lock does not fit the lock either .Any help would be gratefull .

Answer
Eric, the fork lock and seat lock numbers are somewhat hidden, unlike they were on the earlier 305s. You have to remove the lock assembly to see the numbers in most cases.

If you can get underneath the seat on the hinge side, you can work out the hinge pin clips and pins to remove the seat from the frame, then remove the two screws for the lock assembly (advice if you can't get the seat off easily). Look carefully at the lock assembly for the key code or take it to a locksmith.

Hopefully, the seat lock and fork locks are the same codes. There are a lot of aftermarket replacement ignition switches on Ebay and through K&L dealers, but they don't sell "lock sets," which would include all locks for the bike, keyed alike. You may have to haul the steering stem/frame or whole bike to the locksmith to get the fork lock out, though, as the key is required to remove it from the stem. A locksmith can key all the locks alike to make it more convenient. An OEM keyset from Honda would be well over $100, if you can find them now.
