Motorcycle Repair: oil leak, oil tank, deoderant

hey there well i am not sure if this question will fall under your knowledge feild.. but i just recently obtained a 1998 ultra patriot bike with a 96ci s&s motor and 5 speed trans my question is this when i ride short distance it is fine but when i ride for 10 or more miles it has oil all over the right side of the oil tank any ideas where to look? the bike is based on a softtail frame any help would be appriciated so i don't destroy my bike. thanks,sean

your leak could be about anywhere. heres is the best way to find it. Clean the motor very well. After it dries, spray it with deoderant that has baby powder in it, so the powder is all over the motor. Go for a short ride and where there is a leak the powder will turn black.
