Question
Hi Chris,
I just baught a suzuki sv650r it craked but did not started. The buyer told me that it just need new coils and main relay. I changed both coils, spark plug wire, spark plugs, and the main realay. I also checked all the fuses and they are all fine. But the bike still does not start. I have worked on cars but this is the first bike I ever touched. Any help would be apreciated

Answer
Do you have spark?  Most ignition systems have a crankshaft trigger, which then sends a signal to the CDI or spark module, then to the coils. Coil failures are very rare these days on any modern motorcycle.
Did you check the KILL switch for a malfunction? If the bike has CDI ignition, then the KILL switch will ground out the ignition pulses. If it has electronic ignition (battery powered), then the KILL switch will OPEN a circuit to the coils, shutting off the power to them.

If the bike has been sitting for more than a month with old gas in the carburetors, then the idle circuits are probably plugged up with old fuel deposits or, depending on where you live, the alcohol in the gasoline separates out and falls to the bottom where the jets are. If they are not plugged, the bike isn't jetted to start on alcohol, so it won't light.

Check for spark, replace all the fuel, check carbs for clear jets, drain the bowls, replace the spark plugs and it should be good to go.

You didn't specify the year, miles or other details, so I am only offering general info... this is not my brand to be expert on...
