Motorcycle Repair: 1975 CL360, throttle cable, pivots

Question
Hey Rich, I just bought my first bike recently and it is not running and has many problems. The first one is that the throttle sticks. It seems to be connected properly to the cable. How would I go about fixing this?

Answer
John, it could be a couple of things causing the throttle to hang up. The cable could be rusty or the pivots in the carbs that is gummed up with old gas and grud.

I'd recommend you loosen up the throttle cable adjustment and then work the throttle back and forth while you watch the cable down at the carbs.  If it looks like the cables are moving freely, it's probably the carbs that need cleaning.

Rich
