Motorcycle Repair: xl 1200s fork extension, fork tubes, sportster sport

Hi, I saw your answer about putting longer fork tubes on a Sportster Sport with the addition of spacers in side the cartridge shocks. Could you confirm this would work on my 1999 and give a little bit more detail for my skeptical mechanic?

It will work on your bike. When you extend the fork tubes you need somthing in there to take up the space between the spring and the top cap that you made by making the tubes longer. If you are adding a inch then you need a inch spacer
