Motorcycle Repair: 1982 Honda Magna, 1982 honda magna, volt ohm meter

Question
I have a 1982 Honda Magna it runs fine but when you turn the handlebars to the right sometimes it completely cuts out power to the engine. Is this a problem with magnas in general or is it a wiring problem any help on where to start would be great. And what is the easiest way to check and make sure the battery is getting recharged by the alternator on a motorcycle.

Thanks for any help

Answer
Sorry, for taking so long to get to this answer, but I've been out of town.

The kill switch wire seems to have a loose connection.  It could be in the switch if the wires are being pulled or it could be in the headlight where they plug into the harness.  Take a volt Ohm meter and check the battery voltage when the bike si revved up to 3000-4000 rpm.  It should be 13.5 to 14.5 volts.  If it's less than this, your charging system needs repaired.
