QUESTION: my 2002 883 sportster hugger.  Its been working fine, but now it wont start or even the lights come on.  battery is ok, now the lights come on dim, still wont start.

ANSWER: If the light is dim and the battery is charged check your ground at both ends to make sure its tight and clean

QUESTION: When i turn the key to accessory only the odometer lights up.  When usually all the lights come on.  Then when i turn on the key to ignition the head light and rear tail lights come on which is normal and also the front directional's (which isn't normal and dimly lit).  Then when hit the start button i hear a loud pop and it dosen't start.  then all the lights are dim.

ANSWER: Did you check the ground wire? Check the positive wire as well

QUESTION: yes sir i checked both, and both ends the connections are good. its more than the lights are dim they are working improperly and its not starting.  With a loud pop.  Do you think the ignition module or switch could be doing this?


Answer
It sounds like you might have a bad battery. I would have it tested. If you are sure that the battery is good then you have a short int he wiring, do to the fact that the headlight is dot as bright as normal. this would also cause the bike not to start
