Motorcycle Repair: 1997 HD Sportster Carburetor, hd sportster, copper tube

Question
QUESTION: I have two hoses that have rotted. The first runs from the rear of the fuel cut-off to a splitter behind the carburetor. The second runs from bottom of the carburetor to (?) . Would this interfere with the fuel flow to the Carburetor.  Also, where does the second hose connect or is it just an overflow drain? I was also curious where to find a schematics drawing of the carburetor to verify the hoses are all connected properly once replaced. Thank You.

ANSWER: The hose at the splitter is from the vaccumn on the carb. If it leaks the bike wont run. It has to have vaccumn to open the petcock. the second one is just the overflow on the carb float bowl.
You can get a service manual, but I dont think there is a schematic of the fuel system in it

QUESTION: I am still questioning whether the fuel flow is interupted? When I turn the throttle grip, no fuel is spraying from the small copper tube inside the carburetor.
Is this a seperate problem?

Answer
If the vaccumn doesnt open the petcock then the fuel flow will stop, so that might be the problem. If you wan to check it, remove the hose from the petcock and attach another hose to it. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb. open the petcock and suck on the hose, which will cause a vaccumn and the fuel should flow out the fuel line
