Motorcycle Repair: crankcase breathe oil spillout, chain oiler, spring check valve

Question
hello again mike.  i am confused about the location of  my crankcase breather
on my 1976 flh.  it looks to me like the hose that attaches to the right lower
nipple of my oil pump is it (?).  as i mentioned last time,  this hose was sealed
with a bolt clamped into it.  i have replaced and re-seated the ball and spring
check valve (and removed the old ball from on top of the spring).  still, oil
sometimes spills out (a lot!!)  of oil when cranking, or after cranking.  am i
mixed up as to where the breather is vs. the rear chain oiler.  i  thought i
closed off the rear chain oiler with the adjuster screw.  could it be that the
ball is still not seating properly on an intermmitent basis?  i can't seem to
understand where the primary chain oil scavenger goes back to th oil tank,
but can see where it enters from the oil pump hose.  could it be a faulty oil
pump?  what about "breather valves"?  do they enter into the picture with my
bike?  thank you,  chris zornes

Answer
Your oil returns from the primary through a hose which is attached to a t from the vent on the motor. As the air is passed through the hose to the oil tank it sucks the oil out of the primary.
Your ball is still not seating all the way. The only other thing you can do is remove the oil pump, take it apart and hone the seat for the ball
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
