Motorcycle Repair: i need to replace my latch assembly, latch assembly, small pin

i have a honda 350G and the latch assembly is broken.  i am in the process of locating another one.  meanwhile, i cant figure out a way to open the gas cap or get the pin out to replace the assembly.  any suggestions?

You have to drive the pin out that holds it on the tank.  Take a small pin punch and just drive it out.  Have someone hold a hammer on the opposite side to prevent bending the tabs on the tank.  You can replace the pin with the one that comes with the latch or you can use a long small screw so you don't have to rivet the end of the pin to hold it in place.
