Motorcycle Repair: Fuse, honda cb 400, regulator rectifier


Question
I have a 1977 Honda CB 400 F. Today when i was riding it home it just stoped when i Wanted to drive away from a Signal light, i checked the fuze box and the 15A fuse poped. I canged the fuze and it poped againe. what coud it be, it hapend all of a sudden. thx

Popping fuses usually means that there's too much voltage on your electrical system. That is a symptom of a failed or failing regulator/rectifier. Put a voltmeter and check the voltage while the bike is running. Increase the RPMs and watch the voltage. If the voltage increases past 14.5-15.0 then your regulator is probably failing and needs to be replaced.

Regulators sometimes fail because of corroded wiring and connectors. So check all the connectors for corrosion when you get your new regulator.
