Motorcycle Repair: 1978 honda 550 4 carb, e mail address, honda 550

Question
we recently pulled the carbs of a 78 honda 550 to clean the bowls and jets we cleaned everything up reinstalled the carbs but when you turn the pitcock fuel will start leaking out of the fitting on the bottom of the bowl what could of caused this and how could we fix this i sent question earler but put wrong e mail address

Answer
The bowl drains should have a small gas-proof rubber washer to seal the flow. If this wears out it will need to be replaced. Are you sure its leaking from this location? It's possible the carb's float valve is leaking and the fuel is tricking down to this point.

In general I like to replace all rubber washers and o-rings and any gaskets when rebuilding old carbs.
