Motorcycle Repair: Hard to start Yamaha FZR 600, yamaha fzr 600, motorcycle world

Question
I'm new to the motorcycle world. Just bought a '93 FZR 600. Its very hard to
start and when I can get it started it won't idle unless I'm on the throttle even
with the choke open. The carbs were rebuilt last winter, its got good spark
and good gas in it. Any ideas of what it could be?

Answer
Hi Cameron...

Sorry for the delay in answering...

Even tho the carbs were rebuilt last year, it may be that the bike sat too long with gas in the carbs after the rebuild. The gas gets gooey after a few months and clogs the slow jets. Even if you put fresh gas in the tank, you still have to clean the goo out of the carbs. You will not need any rebuild kits for this. Cleaning the carbs should get ya back on the road again!!
