Motorcycle Repair: Tachometer connection, honda cm400t, frequency input

I need to know where to connect a portable tachometer to a 1979 Honda CM400T with CDI ignition.  the Clymers manual says to connect it "per manufacturer's instructions."  That's no help. Thanks for your help.

It depends on what you need as input.  If you just need a input from the coil tap into either the yellow or blue wires coming out of the coils.  That will give you a frequency input equal to 1/4 the engine speed so you will have to adjust your input so your display reads correctly.
